Wanted 4-8meter foil kite for snowkitting

Postby Snapcut » Mon Jan 12, 2015 2:49 pm

Hello...I'm a newbie on the forum as you can see...

Anyway, I've been using a 12 meter ozone frenzy this season and would like to find a smaller kite for those higher wind days and would also like to help teach people how to fly a power kite (12meters is a bit much for most people to learn on in most conditions...IMO). So if anyone's looking to part with a kite in that size range send me a message (hopefully I'll understand how to use the sites message system easily enough)...I'm looking to spend around $300 give or take (that's a ball park price)...

Thanks

P.S. I live in Owen Sound

Still looking ;)...Thanks crabnebula! I may be in contact, but like I said hoping to find someone closer...I'm open to LEI kites but just don't know as much about them...like good quality from bad, different styles, feasibility for winter use etc...but maybe someone on here wants to educate me about the benefits of using them on the snow...who knows maybe I'll buy one then?

Thanks for looking!

Snapcut,

All of the information that you want has already been covered many times. Just do some searching and you will get a better idea. Part of the problem is that it is tough to make general statements. For example, I might say that LEI kites are heavier than foils. However, that is not always true. Yes, there are heavy LEI kites and in general LEI kites are heavier. On the other hand, there are LEI kites that are specifically designed to be light weight that are as light or lighter than some foils.

Buying a kite can be confusing. I think your best bet is to look at what the locals in your area are riding. Observe who is struggling and who is having a good time and why. Until you are more experienced, you may want to go with a highly recommended kite used by other kiters in your area. Perhaps, you can even buy a used one from one of them.

12,9,7 frenzy would be a good quiver.
