Kite Pump Filter?

Postby AeolianKitesurfing » Tue Mar 10, 2015 5:04 pm

SUP Kiters!

I wanted to share with you a concept we're working on here at Aeolian...It's a Kite Pump Filter
Image

You put it on the "Deflate" side of your handle to Filter the air you pump into your kite. This keeps sand and dirt out of your Bladder and Pump!

We think this is something that should have been incorporated into the design of the first kite pump...maybe then we wouldn't be dealing with so many broken and seized pumps or kites with sandy bladders.

Check out my buddy's pump...

What do y'all think of the concept?

Its a good idea, I made one out of a Kurig filter but I would have just purchased one if they were readily available.

It is very easy to DIY
Several layers of panty hose fixed over the intake with a pull tie, done!
And to complete the system a one way at the kite valve connection adapter, been doing this for years.

why use metal? can you make them more "disposable", something out of filter paper, something biodegradable?

This is only a concept. I can see a lot of rust building up on the one in the picture above.

A final model would be made of plastic and the filter element is filter paper. A plastic part would be washable and reusable.

One layer of nylon panty hose hose around my electric kite pump and I have never had any sand infiltrate the pump.
