Please recommend a snowkite school

Postby LynchMob » Fri Oct 16, 2015 6:10 pm

Avid kiteboarder looking to get into snowkiting. Could someone please recommend a good kite school that is open in November / December? I am agnostic to location and if it could be combined with a trekking adventure all the better.

Not sure where you're located but were in New Hampshire. Our season will be starting shortly and we're queing up students now. If you would like to schedule some clinic time to get dialed on winter riding we'd be happy to help. Rideable ice/snowpack is usually available mid to late December. We are the only dedicated snowkite school on the East coast. All we do is snowkite instruction and snow kite sales. www.hardwaterkiter.com

If you or anyone is looking for a trek and adventure with kites?
You'll need to move into the mountains
For all levels of Snowkite and kiteboarding instruction at all levels on skis or boards

Kiteboard New England has been around longer and has more experience ( more certification as well with IKO and PASA) than another school in the north east

Call us up and we will happily explain the adventures that can be done here in the NH mountains, and with kites?; think over nights, ski/ board backcountry touring, ice climbing to get to the kite spot!??
Yeah, we do that! And have been for over 10 years

First Question: Do you already know how to kite on the water?
If the answer is no, then you want to look for a location with flat ground and consistent wind conditions.

If you already kite on the water and you are looking for adventure, then head to the mountains.

I used to tell people that the best place to snowkite was in my backyard in Utah, but I realize that while Utah is an amazing place to ride, it is not the easiest place to learn. I discovered this while teaching my children that are in their early 20's. The conditions can be challenging here for a newbie (too much powder, light wind, wind shadows, terrain challenges, etc.). I found my best bet was to take them to a frozen lake for instruction.
