The thing is that I plan on doing most my sailing on smooth sandy beaches which won't put to much strain on the axels. I don't feel like spending money even if it is only like 50 bucks. This idea was one that I hoped to keep under ten dollars.

ok, go ahead and do it. see for yourself what will happen. it is not just the terrain, but the extra leverage from the big wheels. i have seen so many skate trucks with extended axles that are bent. let me know how it works out.
