Post subject: Hooking a blade to a seat harness
PostPosted: Sun Mar 16, 2003 10:30 am
I am past the stage of just hanging onto my blade.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me some good systems for hooking my blade 2 into a seat harness.
Your help is much appreciated
Thanks

Strop line - short bit of thin climbing rope tied to your handles will then hook into your harness simple

BE WARNED!

I used to do this until one day I was kitesurfing, did a jump and stuffed it (this was with a 4.9 Blade), somehow the rope slid along my hook till one of the handles got wedged in the hook. This is how it went:

- Stuffed jump
- try to get board back under ------ bam
- in the air
- under water
- in the air
- under water
- water rushing in my mouth

I was going quite quick and I didn't have the strength to get my arms to the harness, they were flapping about with the force.

Eventually my brain shut down and simply tried to survive by breathing when I was above the water.

My brother said it looked like a rag doll being shook by a dog.

Ha! Well, as much fun as it was I don't recomend the rope + handels

Get a bar + quick release!

I have been using the strap line for about 6 years. If you are using it for land kiting you will not need to be so powerd up as for KiteSurfing. You should be fine.

The roller system works just as well as a regular harness. :thumb:

Yeah, until that one day when you are powered up and do something silly (trip over, stuff a jump, scratch your ass) and bam - uncontrolled kite and no quick release. Thats just a damn foolish attitude - it'll never happen to me, I'm too good.

See you in the hospital :thumb:
