Hi Dwight,

did you already test the North Rhino4 (?) in 20 sqm?

Can you tell me the difference between the Rhino2 20?

Will the 20 sqm be the biggest size of the new Rhino's ?

Thx for infos.

I heard it is called Rhino 4 because of the year 2004.

But it is a rumor, but Dwight will now.

I'm not as well connected to North as you guys think. I am just a lucky guy who gets to try some kites now and then. I don't know what the marketing people are planning to call it. They still call the prototypes R3s. Many of the sizes are close to be finalized. The 20 was not, last I heard from them. It may take longer to come up with a version better than the current the 20, which may have been the most improved kite in all of 2003. The 20 had the widest wind range of all the R2 sizes.

About a bigger one. I heard mixed opinions about whether it would happen. The current 20 still compares well to other kites bigger than 20. If the public demands it, I think it will happen. The public demanded the 8m R2 and got it. Make your opinions known now.

as part of the public I´d request for a Recon-equipped R4 and wonder if it would be more beneficial for Cabrinha to licence it rather than to keep it exclusive IN LONG TERMS !? Swimming still is a time consuming part of kitesurfing and any dedication to this issue will support progress and fun in limited freetime !

aloha

Hi Jürgen;

a recon equipped R4 or x4, that's definitely what I'm waiting for.

Cabrinha wouldn't earn as much money selling bars or a patent fee.
So they will kee it for their kites, since then the will make the most money, selling the bar and the kite.

I don't agree with you Toby,
imagine it becomes the industry standard and they get 50 Euros for every kite sold. They'd get rich doing nothing. Maybe they wait for a year to first build up their market share and then sell it to other kite companies?

I read that they bought it from an independent designer. Maybe their license is non-exclusive and this guy can soon buy a house in Cabarete next to Legaignoux's place.

Toby, keep one Rhino4 20.0 RECON for me in stock please... (or a Rhino5 if I'm guessing right)

And let's keep in mind that this is a safety issue so money shouldn't be the only factor in the equation.
Also if they make the sport more accessible and it grows faster, they will benefit naturally from it.

I don't see the RECON as a safety issue. Maybe I'm alone in that view.

1. You relaunch using a bridle. It's more likely a newbie will buy a high performance kite, then have it relaunch in the sweet spot of the window resulting in a wild body drag and butt kicking.

2. You still need (or should) to use the traditional leash system on the RECON to make it safe for newbies.

3. Relaunching a standard kite is already so easy it's a joke.

4. The RECON won't save you from all relaunch problems, i.e. a failed relaunch because the kite tumbled and twisted the lines several times.

5. Self landing with the RECON still may require someone to catch the kite. It's not self landing then. Sure you can back it down to the beach, but then what? Chase it down the beach?

I'm all for improvements and welcome what Cabrinha has done. I just don't think it is the salvation of the world like some of you do.
