Z for zip

Postby tux » Mon Aug 11, 2003 9:29 pm

The new Ricci kite, Type Z is for Zips, the sistem over the bladders that change the tension on the kite, opened for upwind and great speed.
Close(more tension on the edge) for big hang time.
...2 kites in one...

Hi

Do you mean that in small wind you just close the zips and get bigger power like R2 and in stronger wind you just open the zips and get a diffrent type of kite. Is it working?

With open zips this kite has the same caracteristic like the airtype?

Because with the airtype I can handle 1-1,5 beafurt bigger wind than with supertype but the airtype need more wind to start going. That is why I changed my ST14 to Airtype 16 m2.

With this system the Z type kite lower wind area will be better than the airtype?

Zol

RRD does take no 1 in kite looks in my opinion, those are some good looking kites. These are interesting concepts, let's hope kite companies keep searching for innovations in all directions. Viva la creatividad!

PeterLynn users must be laughing like hell
Anyone Knows the Peels?
The Zip Tip Peel:
UL-5.3 UL-6.5 UL-10
area 5,3 m² 7,95 m² 10,8 m²
zipped area : 4,2 m² 6,4 m² 8,6 m²

The design works, nice to see it in a LEI :thumb:

O.K. I don't know how to post images on here.....maybe someone could explain?
The pictures with different colors of the Type Z and a close up of the kite flying with the zippers open can be found on this site http://www.cabaldc.com
It looks like it is for tuning the powerband of the kite, not for changing the size.
