Any progress with lines?

Postby Hampton » Tue Apr 27, 2004 4:45 pm

I have a few different bars, each with lines attached. The bars are in great shape, but I'm getting to the point I need new lines. I know some people have looked for alternate sources other than paying $179 for a new set. Any ideas?

What about bulk line for a group of people?

Thanks, in advance.

Best has them for $45-$55 depending on the size. Just bought a set, look good but haven't had a chance to try them out yet.

I've tested them this week-end. Really thin, really good strength and really good price :thumb:

q line comes in 500 ft rolls which makes no sense... 100ft equals more or less 30M, so you have enough to make one set of lines and have a 5th left over.

The Q-power spool at 500ft length allows you to make a set of 4 40m lines, which some people like for lower winds.

Better too much, than too little, don't you think?

this seems like a pretty good deal:

http://www.kitebuilder.com/catalog/prod ... 324ccbf69d

500# spectra
1000 ft
$91.

probably not as stiff a Q-line, but i bet its as good as what most folks are selling.
the link is from someone on the forum, so they may have some additional feedback.

Do the math... you can put together 2 sets of lines for maybe $15 cheaper than 2 sets of Best lines that come in the right lengths, pre-stretched, and rigged with connectors.

:)
fair enough.

... but there is still another 200 ft to play with
(what's a set of front lines worth?)

.... a new bridle for a 5th line setup?
or CLS ripoff ?

its good to have choices.
