Litewave as a light wind board?

Postby olegoga » Mon May 17, 2004 6:07 pm

Hi, I am thinking about a new Litewave as a low wind board. I don't want to go bigger then 1.58 which has only 41cm width which makes me spectical about its light wind performance.

Obviously I can wait for the right conditions drive 60 miles and try it on my own, but I am sure that lots of you guys can give me the answer without the hassle.

Thanks,
Alon.

how much do you weigh? I'm 200lbs 90Kg, and have a 169 as a light wind board. Works great for me, but when i get powered up and the water is choppy, it gets a little jolting. On smooth water it's great though and light winds usually some w/ smooth water around here at least.

Sorry, forgot to mention some statistics: I am 80kg, my biggest kite is Caution 16. By light wind I mean 10-14 knots.

I’ve tried the 169 with a Psycho 12.5 and was able to go upwind in 8 – 10 Knots (I’m 67kg).
Now I have the Psycho2 13m, and I’m thinking about getting the Litewave 158 as a light wind Board (10 - 13 knots).

Hi.

I am a novice to intermediate kiteboarder and weight about 200lbs. At the moment I am using the litewave 148 in light winds with my 25m Phoenix or my 18m Aero2. You should be fine on the 158. In very light wind I use a 157 defender but it gets a bit bouncy in stronger wind and chop.

Cheers
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Can you tell me how much wind do you need to go upwind, using the Litewave 148 and the 18m AERO2?

Thanks
Pedro

Pedro.

If the wind is consistent which we don't get to much of here, 12-13 knots is ok. With our usual gusty winds, I need a bit more.

Cheers
Ryan

The Freestyle Series 145 sounds interesting
How wide is it?
Is it availible yet?
I heard that the Freestyle 125 was a good light wind board so the 145 should be great.
No personal experiance
Any comments?
Joel

I read somewhere that the new 145 is going to be 43cm wide. Sounds like an up to date 169 to me with the added benefit of being short and presumably a lot lighter. :thumb:

The new trend is to go with a wider flatter board for light wind.
I have a Hana Crew 130 by 49 coming in
This is on the extreme side of wide.
For your weight the 145 x 43 should be a great light wind board.
I am also 200 lbs I just want a shorter board without giving up the light wind.
I will let you know in a week how the Hana Crew rides.
