How much faster does 2010 SB turn compared to 09 SB?

Postby wallyman » Wed May 26, 2010 9:18 am

Just doing old school stuff don't want a kite that turns to fast , how much faster is the 2010 12m over the 09 12m ? I've heard that they're quite a bit faster? Also how is the bottom end of the 2010 12m compared to the 09/08 SB? Cheers

I went from the 2008 SB to the 2010 SB. Took about two minutes to adjust, the 2010 flies beautifully, just like I thought the 2008 did. The 2010 SB is not a twitchy kite in the 12m size, my guess is you will feel totally at home on it. The 2010 might be a bit faster turning, but it is not that different. If kites got faster every year as advertised, we'd be into light speed turning kites by now.

Low end on the 12m is good, but even at my 170lbs I need to be over 12 knots to have any fun.

I have nothing to do with Cab, just like their kites.

I weigh about 194 lbs and at 12 knots on my 09 12m Switchy, I'm having fun (staying upwind, jumps, backrolls, etc). The board makes a lot of difference. I use an Underground FLX 135 quad-concave and I remember a session when my friend swapped boards with me. I used his North Cesar and I wasn't getting anywhere near the performance out of my 12m in 16 knots due to the nature of the board (this is why some guys buy a 14m or even a 16m).

In keeping with the subject of this thread, I haven't tried the 2010 Switchy but I know a couple of kiters who had the 09 and upgraded to the 2010. They say it the 2010 turns a little bit faster and is an all-around better kite. That's saying a lot since all of us truly love the 2009 Switchys which has a killer low-end. :thumb:

Nico,

I wouldn't know about the British Climate as I've never been to the UK... and I won't comment about the lassies lest I get into trouble. :naughty: Happy kiting!
