Best Twintip for Big Guys

Postby Lalonde » Thu Mar 27, 2003 3:50 pm

What is the best twin tip board for a larger guy? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Have to say that this forum is a lifesaver. It has helped a lot since we don't have too many other people over here to help with kiting questions.

How big is big? Lots of great boards.

My top two recommedations for someone who is beginner to intermediate at >80kg would be:

Underground WtT57
Litewave Dave - 169

Hi I'm 101kg and been kitesurfing for 3years, I personally ride a north robo 140x41 but i don't think you would get on with this board due to the length (you'd probably end up nose diving it). Last year i rode the airush switch 180, a friend rides the gunsails 179t/t it gets you going earlier than all of my previous boards, construction seems o.k and the price is very cheap this type might be more suitable.
good luck

great light wind twin tip = fanatic spider 179

a lesser known board, but it is super light & really good in light wind. I'm 95+kg and use this board in 10-20 - highly reccomend it. i think it only retails for $599. Once the wind picks up, a smaller board is a good idea (like a wave tray 147 or equivelent)

Dude, LFT 169cm

Postby chicagokitesurfer » Fri Mar 28, 2003 3:38 am

This is the greatest light wind board out there. I've ridden the LWD boards and sold the two I had. I bought an LFT. Sure I sell 'em but just look at it in the reviews pages and you'll see what I mean. For large 100kg+ dudes, this is the board, and its ONLY 169cm. Its 49cm wide, and 3cm thick, planes up super fast and goes upwind like a monster. I ride in 8mph on this thing on my 15m and I weigh 185...
