How are the RRD Kites??

Postby chicagokitesurfer » Mon Mar 31, 2003 3:42 pm

Slingshot kites rock, but we're thinking of picking up an additional brand, like RRD. Royce and Kiko seemed to really like them. Can anyone comment on the RRD? Construction, turning, performance/lift, OEM service and support (if you're a dealer). Good or bad info, doesn't matter...just trying to learn...thanks in advance!

supertypes are awsome. they have crazy lift. i'm not sure yet with the 2003's since they're not out yet. the construction is very strong too.

i've tried the RRD airtype 13 m2, friday on the beach.
there was not a lot of wind but the kite was very fast and had a lot of power compared to the aero 2 14 m2.
the turning was also better than the aero 2.
I didn't test the kite in high winds, but they say that it has a large windrange.

Have you thought about Caution?

No, don't know much about Caution, either. So on the RRDs, are they fast? or are they "slow and physical"?

I'm not agree at all about the streght of this brand.

I read on the italian http://www.kiteforum.it a lot of owners and schools had problems with rrd kites.

This year many schools used rrd in the last season wil change brand to looking for a better kite construction quality and resistance.

i use RRD with my school and we think they kick ass. the only bad thing about RRD is that the boards are slow to plane and the fins that come with the boards are really big. the supertypes are fast. the best thing to do is demo one.
