Difference between front/rear line leashes?

Postby MrBonk » Mon Apr 07, 2003 4:32 am

Greetings,
I notice some kites have front line leashes, some have rear line leashes......what's the difference here? Any particular reason to have one or the other?

rear line leashes were the first used and most common.
but front line leashes are better for spins and loops
but mainly when landing the kite will sit nose into the
wind when landing. Plus it doesn't spin out of control
when landing or in an emergency safety release;
I ride slingshot but use a wipika bar and it has a simple
2 ring system which can be converted to any bar.
just attach 1 front line to a ring and then attach the other
after threading it through the first ring and then attach the leash
to the second ring. It does make a difference which side the
leashed line attaches to . for eg on my beach for northerlies
attach to left side of kite and opposite for southerlies

Rear line leashes are also not advised when using reverse-relaunch bridles.
