In general I can tell you this:

if you leave your big kite at home, you will have light winds.
if you leave your small kite at home, you will have strong winds.and if you take all your kites, you will have no wind (happend to me!)

serious, take everything you have.
I don't know about wind in Cabarete, since I only had it for 5 hrs.....

Pls contact Marina at
she knows how wind will be at the end of April and what sizes to bring.

My advice: bring, what you have....

Enjoy and let us know how your trip went.

Toby's right - If you don't have, it you'll need it. ..if you have it all - you're more likely to have something to throw up.

Here's a good basic weather:

.....scroll down and look for the specific days. I think Marina would tell you to add 5-8kts to the winds in Puerto Plata for Cabarete.

another good one is from Checzovackia (sorry I butchered that...) It's:'s really cool with all sorts of places - and lucky for me - he's got an english decoder. That CZ looks like one tough language...

Fun place.

Bring both kites... you will surely use them. If you have a smaller kite, you should bring it too! TYPICALLY, winds in April are 10-22 knots, perfect for your 12 and 16m kites. But we have been having unusually strong winds as well so bring whatever you have. As Toby said, Murphy's Law is that if you leave a size at home, you're going to need it. If you need a smaller size, you can rent Slingshot, Gaastra or 2003 kites from us at Kitexcite, or Cabrinha kites from Vela. The Takoon school might have some for rent as well. I think the Wipi school has limited size selection too.

all the best from Cabarete,
