Male, 23 years old, 73 kg started kitesurf last summer 2002. Still beginner but I feel my way is jumping and surfing in waves, but I also like flat water.

2002

- Cabrina CO2 9.0 (12.2m²)
- Naish TT 5'6 2002.

Good material for a beginner: easy, good enough to progress,...

2003

- X2 16 2002
- X2 12 2002
- North Dragon S 2003

No comments about X2's: it's well known there are great kites. The dragon is also very good. Progress now start and won't stop with this material !

But I like also Naish X3 (for the stability and big wind range), North Rhino II (for stability and power) , Cabrina Vari 48 (for cutting edges in low wind and flat water). Materials I've already tested !

Kitehouse

Kite surfing 1 1/2 years, 80 kg. Working some tricks and really want to work on wave riding skills and of course juping as high as I can. I kite in a lot of chop and wave.
last year
15 m BT Cabrinha 20m flat
8.5 m
prankster 172

this year
still need a big kite undecided between 20 or 18 meter and also north r2 or naish x3

14 meter x2
8.8 globe rider

naish 4-6 tt
Need a new light wind board maybe cyclone 150 or wave tray 147

28 m lines and 15 m lines

Just want to rave a bit about my new globe kite a bit. I had my reservations about buying it but it really is a very sweet kite and has a huge range. I could stay up wind in 15-17 kt and up to 35 kt had to change boards of course but still a very amazing little kite.

Peter Frank - 72kg.

2003 kites:

Takoon Skoop2 17m2 (which I love for its well turning behaviour and extreme hang time).
Takoon Skoop2 14.5m2 (the kite preffered, and used a lot, best size of all, and with the biggest range).
Takoon Skoop2 11.5m2 (the kite that jumps the easiest and highest when powered > 24 knots).

When 28 knots or more, I borrow smaller kites, or go windsurfing when good conditions/waves...

2003 boards:

Brunotti Wacko 135 x 36cm.

For light wind or unstable wind:
Brunotti Skidzo 145 x 37 or Sicko 150 x 37.5 (havent decided fully yet - still testing...)

For real light wind (<8-9 knots):
Short board surfrider with 17m2 kite, or freestyle on classic windsurfer, or surfriding - or beachvolleyball !

Male, advanced (now), 68 kg, 1.82m

2001-2002:
Kite - Cabrinha BT 9.4 (12.8m2): didn't like it so much, as it was not stable and was very prone to fall in the water; slow turning; was my 1st kite though, and it allowed me to progress anyhow.
Kite - Cabrinha BT 7.0 (9.5m2): great kite, much faster than the 9.4
Board - Gun Dark Angel 5'8'' (178cm), directional: good board as 1st board

2002-2003:
Kite - North Rhino2 16: great kite for low winds, very stable, will never fall off the sky; only disadvantage is that you are overpowered pretty quickly
Kite - Gaastra GXR 12: great kite, good low end, good high end, very easy to handle, fast and accurate steering.
Board - Gaastra G-Chip 142 (was only sold in 2002 I think), twin-tip: great board, very easy to ride, ideal for choppy conditions.

Overall, I would say that my "new" equipment is definitely easier to handle, has higher performance, is more error-forgiving and therefore allows more action, learning and FUN!
