AMP 10.3 (14.0)

Postby Toby » Wed Jun 04, 2003 8:35 am

the first impression of the AMP is very positive.
The seems and the material look good, the last tube at the tip has a pushback valve, which is needed due to the small tubes.

The main tube has two valves, a normal one and a big one, which I didn't use.

It has many connection points for different characteristics of the kite, called "Cruiser" "Styler" "Trixxer", where you can set the spped of the kite.

I used "Cruiser" which is the point at the outside.

In the air the kite looks very stable. It is very easy to turn and wherever I want it to go it turns quickly with a comfortable pressure on the bar.

The wind I tested it in was from 5.5-6.5 Bft (18-25 knts).
My weight is 90 kgs and I rode the X-Shooter 133.

I was impressed by the height I got with the AMP. I didn't expect it to go that high. I had many jumps which went high, one was really amazing.
It creates a soft lift and gives you a nice hangtime so you have enough time to do your tricks.

The upper wind limit for my weight and board will be around 7 BFt (28 knts), but once I had to fight, since a dark cloud went by and we had about 32 knts. But I was able to manage it since I flew it all the way to the edge and edged my board very hard. At 28 kts it will pull hard but still to have fun.

The lower wind limit I don't know, but I guess it will be at 13/14 knts riding a 155 board. But this I need to test.

Compared to other kites it is for me within the top 3 kites in size 14.
X3, Rhino2, Amp
As to my impression the Rhino2 14 has a bit longer hangtime.
But I think the AMP jumps a bit higher then all of them.
The X3 and AMP are faster than the R2.
All 3 kites are very good, so it will be a matter of personal choice and which brand you prefer.
I didn't decide yet which one to get, I will let you know.

Greets
Toby
