Scepter 04 Review:

Just got my new 04 Scepter bar and lines setup. After spending a bit of time with my new 20M Rhino 4 quickly realized that I needed a full quiver of this product. My last order was for a 16M Rhino 04 with a new bar and lines setup.

If you asked me 1 year ago about North I would have said now way would I ever go to that goofy bar and lines system with all that junk hanging off of it. The main things I did not like about 03 was the thick lines (rig is a big bundle when wound) and the various loops hanging off of it.

After seeing the new setup at my local launch I realized that N has come a long way with the bar and lines since the 03 scepter. Below are my initial thoughts.

Lines: They unwind and separate super easy, They float, They are bright white in color which makes them very easy to find in grass and on water, hardly any stretch at all (kite was noticeably more responsive with this bar even using the small bar setting), line ends are stitched up very very nice.

Bar: Feels great in the hand, Very comfortable, Floats, Line winders work great, Chicken loop action is sooooo smooth, mini Fixed Loop is super sweet, safety works great, leash and depower work great, easily configured (width adjustment and rear line length adjust knots).

Sheeting System: This systems seems less intuitive than what I am used to but I think I need more time with it.

Overall the setup is excellent. The only thing that did not immediately impress me was the sheeting strap.

Feel free to mail me any questions. :D

I agree with this review, the only disadvantage is that the depower line wears out very very quick :S

Roy, how fast did it wear? I had that problem with my old bar but it was not even near as smooth. I am baffled at how this one would wear quickly even with the plastic fitting in the bar.. Seems super low friction to me

After 10 sessions I thought it would be a good idea to replace it...

My was wearing too fast too and i didn-t get any spare parts. So I have solved the problem by replacing the top part of the rope by a new one giving a knot to the "bottom part" (quick release, etc) inside the hole in the middle of the mini-hook. Works perfectly.
