***BEST BFK IT WORKS***TODAYS LIGHT WIND TEST***

Postby fat blokes can fly » Sun Feb 27, 2005 2:54 pm

Tried the Best BFK 16m today in Cleethorpes, very cold but this kite actually works great as a light wind machine! Another big point is the sheer speed of the thing turns faster than my 14m and keeps the power through the turns.
Might be able to get some pics up later today, I'll also add to the review!
Can't wait to try the 18 & 21m!

for a fat bloke in naff all wind, towards the end there, you were doing alright.

i managed to take it out when it was still blowing, my time with it today confirms my feelings from the proto test.

relaunch is super easy it just rolls onto its side with a slight pull, twist the bar and off she goes. turning speed was up from what i had experienced with the proto, a 55cm bar is way big enough for this kite.

trimming is dead easy, just rig the 5th so it has some tension with the bar at full stretch and off you go.

jumping feels a lot tighter than the 18 nemesis, the kite redirects quicker with more positive feel due to the increased stiffness. kiteloops and downloop transitions were as easy as i've found on anything else i've tried this year, and the kite holds a fair amount of power through the loop. i'm pretty sure you could rig this to loop pussy or insane depending on the 5th line trim.

with the kick bar unhooking and looping will be superb.

jumping was a real surpsie for me, with this much power on tap i thought it was going to be a dog to dig the rail for the cleanest pop, but giving her a touch of depower as you send her back means you can keep that rail right until the last minute. lift and hangtime were just great, this kite is seriously floaty, with jumps being real smooth and prolonged, pics to follow.

replacing my 18m was always going to be a problem for me as i had that kite dialed in so well and it did everything i wanted, from first few sessions this one definately feels like its the replacement i was looking for. maybe the 18 BFK might sway me from the 16m, but its going to have to be seriously sweet to do that.

for anyone who catches me around the coast in the next couple of months, give this one a try...... it a real smile.

another thing simon, i think the 16m will be fine as you big gun due to your power to weight, fat guys hold the rail better  .
Bfk was turning conciderably quicker for me being around 48lb heavier than simon. 18 will probably do me but i must try the 21m.

adam, i seem to remember you getting blown clean off the water on your old 20m when i was still fine on my 17, despite the 50lb weight difference, so dont be giving me any rail crap....

you and your chicken legs....

Hi Guys here is my "real no BULL review!"

I'm a previous Rhino 2 20m fan I rode mine for 2 years until total destruction and have been on the quest to find an equal / better replacement! The kite I have decided on is the BEST 21m BFK. I have had the kite on loan for the past few weeks but have held off on reviewing it due having been out on it in far from perfect conditions i.e FOG.

WHAT YOU'VE GOT TO APPRECIATE IS I WEIGH 101KG!
Yesterday out on the big BFK for 3hrs made my mind up that this kite is as good in the jumps and far better on the upwind than my trusty old 20mR2. It will also work alot better for lighter guys as the R2 20 was just for the heavy guys!

Wind when i went out was 9/10knts when we came in it was 18/19knts
Screams upwind gaining speed fast.Board was a best float 135x44 (good quality light wind board) In the jumps just send it from quite high to just past 12/1 and you get big air, boost is great taking me by surprise. Adjusting bar position (sheet out)nearing the apex of the jumps also effected the lift, then slightly steer the kite forward and i was amazed by the glide & with this glide you travel, boy do you travel! I was having to be careful on jumps as to not land on the beach as were in my favourite jumping spot the creek in Cleethorpes.
The ability of the kite in the jumps height/hangtime was mentioned to me by several other kiters (which speaks volumes), one of which that is testing the 18m BFK this week!

Thanks BEST & the EXTRA 30% off comes in very handy
Personally I would have bought the kite anyway but it keeps the girlfriend happy! The money is better in my pocket I

COMMEN SENSE KITEBOARDING & BETTER THAN A RHINO 2 20M!

Mike.
