Thanks, that's a lot of information. What is the difference between the Rage and this kite? Is this a newer version? I heard good things about the Rage and Outrage too.
Elli,
Some of the information you're looking for can be found here also.

RAPTURE 15m Testing.

Postby DrLightWind » Tue Apr 12, 2005 6:02 am

I had a 4hrs session on the Rapture 15m yesterday.
Pigtails were set-up on the 3rd one for max. power with 23m lines.
Started out in 10 to 12mph wind on a 159 mutant type board for 3hrs and than picked-up to 18 to 20mph.
When it was about 17mph that's when the fun started and yet still in control.
The upwind is incredible while the bar still being sheeted in and trim strap set for maximum power.
When it's got to 18 to 20mph I was still comfortable with the power spikes enjoying instant accelerations like a race car on nitrous.

I had to edge hard while the kite was inches above the water to tame it for up-wind or boosting.
No other choice, my board was too big and getting dark to swap it out pluss I had enough.
It felt like I could probably handle at least 5mph more easy on my 128 TT.

Couple days ago riders were on a 12m like Cab and Caution Best etc.
so I set the pigtails for high wind to the first one for the Rap. 15m and using my 128 X 35 TT.
The first half hr was fine and than the wind dropped to about 12-13mph. Suddenly I noticed all riders had to sine the kite like crazy including me and barely could hold ground. When it dropped to 10mph forget it I ended up at a private property and had to be picked-up. Maybe a bigger board and pigtails set in the middle, perhaps could a save my arse who knows.
The 3rd pigtail set-up gives the low end grunt for sure, what a supprise.

Appears to be when riders are on a 12m kites that is the day for the Rapture 15m
and when everybody is on a 9 or 10m kites that is the day for the Rapture 12m IMO.
So forget about effective projected surface theory, flying is everything what works in real time and what you feel.

Maybe it's not a kite for you if your weight is more than an average and want to take advantage of the low end range without using a bigger board,
or if you just like to lock it in and go like a slow pig conventional "parachute type" kite in a light winds.
You might have to sine the Rap. 12m in a 15-17mph range and the 15m in a 13-15m range what I found for my weight.
They like to be sined to generate the appearent wind in a lower range so there is nothing wrong with that IMO.
It's not resulting from exertion so don't worry about it, it's easy to sine!

So far I'm satisfied with the 15m Rapture's performance and the reverce relaunch feature.
I'm stoked sometimes it's only a matter of second, faster than with the 5th line.

this seems a bit odd given the rapture has a higher projected area than the regular style kites. I would have thought that the 12 would be ok when everyone is flying 14/15 metre kites, and the 15 when people are flying 16-18.....

care to elaborate further on this aspect of the kite Dr L??

Yup, that would not be expected.
Just another doubt, do you have to be always applying pressure on the bar?

The Rage II's and Outrages are nice also, you can learn a bit more about them by following this ongoing discussdion thread on them: http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/viewtopic.php?t=1598

There is no sweat about the kites they have a wider, especially the top end range than a traditional C-shape kites.
A light weight rider can take all of the advantage of a stated full wind range by WW for the Raptures.
For an average or heavier rider a wider board selection becomes important at a low end.
We like to compare things, but these kites are different designs and when we do that we have different expectations and numbers from the past.
Theese kites are performing well when they're powered up so we have to live with that.
Perhaps that's the new way of flying kites.

Wavando,
You shouldn't have any doubts theese kites are great as I keep saying. Read the WW forum.
Mostly I apply pressure on the bar all the time without too much pressure on it since it's a front line flyer IMO.
