The maker of the Turbolauncher now has a new device out called the linemanger. Basically it does the same thing but is super compact and even simpler to load. I received one the other day but have yet to use it on the water. I'll post water results later.

These things sound like good ideas - but nobody here has put up the cash so far to try it out.

What do you do with it once you've launched? The whole point of a self-launch is to do it yourself, but often you need to stand clear of the shore in the water to do this safely... meaning your launcher would float away every time.

Right Stuff... the linemanager and mini turbolauncher are small enough to hook on your harness. In fact you should do that with the linemanager so that you can wrap your lines when you come back in. The primary purpose of the launchers is not self launching but rather launching from a place with minimal/crowded beach, thus if it's an assisted launch and you don't want to hook the device on your harness ya just chuck it to your launch buddy. Or if you are solo, you just walk towards shore with the kite at neutral and toss the device on the beach.

Have you used the Line Manager yet... How does it work and what happens to it when the kite is launched.

Kitemonk - thanks for the info. Perhaps I could ask Chris to throw up a picture of these beasts so I can see the size; use something like a coin or a hammer or a can of beer for reference please.

Yeah, go with the beer.
