Wipika Indy 13.5 Awsome Kite! Shows range...

Postby PBKiteboarding » Mon Sep 26, 2005 2:45 am

Here is an example of a fun Indy 13.5 day on a Mauricio Pro board... I'm 155lbs. No front stall that day... Only happens sometimes with 19.5 in very light winds... crazy light days. pushing the 8mph limit.... in lulls... 6mph or nothing (wind shifts) sometimes walking up beach... Definitely a high performance kite! Wipika has the Matrix (flies further back) for more stable riding and even the Core... But get light bar pressure fast performing kites... smaller front tubes move so far ahead in the windows for killer upwind... but not too small... These kites love to loop since then turn so fast... ... and love to fly... keep em moving in lulls... small side to side... and even downloop in a lull when riding or loop, or sheet in all the way for a bit, and the prices... nice! I can have a bar for each kite... Going for 15m lines for some fun on 8.5 and 11. 26m lines for 19.5, 23m for 16.5, so on...Hope that helps...

Seems the curved wind tips make a big diference for turning and for relaunch... inflated tips too keeps the tip foating to get the kite off the water... Interesting how thin tubes also twist for relaunch when you pull the 5th and a back line... taxis so smoothly to edge... great trick is not to flip it all the way on it's back...before pulling back line to get it going...

The kites has to be tuned for sure... Wipika makes the front line shorter ready to stretch after riding a bit, so you have to let the front lines out...last pigtail away from the kite or even an extension until front lines stretch (Maybe up to 4"-6", did on the 19.5... That makes a huge different... to get enough back line... until lines are broken in... Makes sense for a light bar pressure front line flyer... backs don't stretch as much... so they factored it in...
