I had the pleasure of riding the two new UNDERGROUND boards from the 2006 FLX range. Unfortunately the wind was a bit on the light side, so I will give another quick review once I had the chance to ride the boards in stronger winds.
I tried the FLX 132 and FLX 128. Both double concave. Below are my first impressions:
Graphics: The new graphics rock. They are sick!!! The new theme is around deep sea fishes (See attached pics).
Gliding: Similar to the previous FLX model these boards glide very easily. It's impressive how little wind you need to get going on one of these boards.
Stability: This board is even more stable than the previous model. It cuts through chop and allows for maximum up-wind capability.
Flex: Again, similar to the predecessor, it is a very flexible board that generated amazing pop in flat water. It also allows for agressive wave riding.
But the best feature results from the DOUBLE CONCAVE bottom: I was amazed by how smooth transitions from heel to toeside are. This will give waveriding on a bi-directional a completely new feeling.
Finish/Build: The board has the usual high quality finish we all learned to love from Underground. So far their boards have not let me down every time I would sell my old board to upgrade to the new one. Their re-sell value rocks.
Footstraps/Pads: The footstraps are prety much the same as the ones used in the previous model. They are adjustable and have a very good grip. The pads changed though. They are no longer glued to the board giving riders the flexibility to move them with the footstraps at a later stage.
So far I have to say that this board has the potential to set the standard and the pace for bi-directional boards in the kiteboarding industry. GOOD WORK UNDERGROUND!!!
I will give the boards another go tomorrow and give some additional feedback how they are in stronger winds...
Cheers,
P
P.S.: As you will notice these pics have not been taken in sunny Sydney. They have been sent to me by a friend who has also been trying the boards.

Any idea when these will hit the market? Some of the retailers here in the UK are marketing the 05 boards as 06 - I didn't even realise there were new Underground boards on the way.

As previous year!
TWan
There is a typo on your measurements:
128x38
132x39
They are starting to ship next week. Only the 128 and 132 are in production right now. The bigger sizes will follow in a 2-3 of weeks. All graphics have been finalized though.
The left one is the 128 the right one is the 132.
Cheers
P
P.S.: Forecast is indicating 20knots NE tomorrow. I will hopefully be able to test both boards in flat water, chop and waves.

Thanks for the info. I'll be really interested to hear what they're like in chop.
