14 Waroo - initial observations.

Postby Kurt » Sun May 07, 2006 8:13 am

We finally have some 14m kites here in oz and I took one out for a few hours today. In short, it is another little gem as with the 9 and 12. I was wondering if it would be sluggish like the 16 or sweet like the 12 and my conclusion it is like the 12 in all aspects with a bit more balls in the bottom end. Well done and thank you Peter.

I had my first day with 14m with waroo 55cm bar today and the wind was very light and the kite was not responding at all when turning the bar, even when fully sheeted-in.

I had to make a different set-up adding a knot 5 cm after the last knot, and then it started to work nicely.

Did u use the standard set-up?

I had my first session on a Waroo 14m and needed to use the last knot, the one closest to the kite, for it to work at all. Does putting another knot make more of a difference. I was in 18mph and seemed to work great on the 5th knot.

Standard setup, all the way out 1st knot, same problem, back lines way to slack and kite would not fly at all.

Have you tried to play with the 3 knots on the rear line that define who the kite turns (slide/ C-turns).

I put it in the middle but out of the package it was on a different one (can't remember which)

Maybe we should post this in BEST forum instead

I've tried it alot on the 9 12 and 16 and always ended up back on the middle knot exceptthe 16 with it being on the rear or closest to the trailing edge knot. It was only my my first few hours on the 14 so I didn't try different settings - felt great on the middle knot though.
