talking about Headzone - how is the quality of helmet itself? radio and battery life? sound quality? any real pros and cons?

Maybe anybody knows any alternatives to Headzone helmets?
Found few descriptions of Voz helmets, but they seem to be outdated and company website gives no info...

would appreciate any comment or recommendation!

For teaching and downwind assistance if it matters

To make it easier to call your friends at work to let them know you are having the best kiting session ever...as you speak into the "telephone helmet", while soaring 30 feet above the water!

"The wind's great...wish you were here"...everyone loves to hear that from a friend, while they are struggling with problems at work, don't they?

btw, two-way radio communication is preferable for my needs! To share best sessions with friends)) And for increasing teaching efficiency also))
anybody knows such products? 'cause everything i see on market is 1way only...

Several years ago Voz sports was working on a two way with weather and blue tooth capability. It had a small built in boom mike. They had a hard time getting the thing to market for some reason. There are still a few distributors of voz helmets out there and if there was enough feedback they might try again.

I talked to some guys who had the head zone helmets. They said they had a hard time with the adjustments for volume and charging. They didnt sound too thrilled about them overall.

I took the helmet from Mystic that has ear cuffs with holes in the cuffs. Got a dry case and waterproof earbuds from drycase. Take the rubber end off the earbuds and they will fit snuggly into the holes of the helmet earcuffs. put al ittle silicone on them to keep impacts from knocking them out and throw your radio into the drycase and bingo, the poor mans solution to helmet communication. But it is one sided communication (only flaw). Overall set up cost me $50. can't beet that when your looking at $500 a helmet from headzone.

The dry case comes with an armband so I took zip ties and zipped the arm band to the back of the helmet so I could freely move the radio and dry case to different size helmets. works like a charm......

Students like it and really made lessons easier. Saved my students alot of time and progressed thier lessons faster.

After reading your answers we decided to take simple lightweight waterproof radios and attach 'em to our LF helmets. This seems to be best solution - we get 2way communication, have no problems with helmet sizing and it's the cheapest one))

What are the lightweight waterproof radios you are using? Brand? model?
Those could be better for my school as well. having 2 way communication can come in handy.

The problem I found with so called waterproof radios is that there really not "waterproof", they are sprinkle resistant. I would really appriciate it if you let me know what radios you are using...

We've got Uniden radios. Tried them in the pool today - works good, everything ok.
But we'll have chance to test them on the water only in May - it's -10C on our homespot now))
