I was not able to ride more than a couple of hours because it was late, but I really - really liked the kite , super fast for it's size, excellent turn speed, great upwind angle and powerful. MUCH more fun to ride than my Cabrinha CB3 10.5 . With similar wind I was not able to ride comfortably with the 10.5 m... so unless CB topend is higher than OV, I wont be using CB a lot.. It seems I'll have to get the OV 5m or 7m too... but I haven’t made up my mind yet which one is the perfect companion.... Cheers , Horacio Horacio Your wind estimate must be wrong. Even EH Kites says you need more than 12 kts to ride an 11m for your weight Attachment:

C.mon, Fred... don't be a nit (-picker, that is, not -wit). The chart says 12.5 knots for a 202 pounder on a 135cm board. He's 205 with a 136 board, and powered by new owner enthusiasm! Besides, he stated that he didn't have a anemometer and was guessing at the 12 knots. It could'a been 13 knots....

Wind charts are pretty fuzzy....
He said he was riding comfortably, hence well powered up so he could not have been in the shadded low end part of the wind chart.
Some people won't have a chance to fly kites before they buy so it's important that they don't get confussed.
I was not accusing Horachio of lying or anything... as you pointed out he statted that he was guessing the wind.
What readers should take from the post he made though is that he loved the kite and it works better for him than the 10.5 he had before. That's a small brand beating a heavyweight brand.

Fred, don't forget that several of these big brands started with designs from EH,, Best and Liquid Force are some of the names.. and recently some of the new 2010 kites start to look like the Rippehr....

I find that in flat water I can definately get going nicely upwind in 12 on the OV 11 (on a 131 x 40 twin tip), but I cannot do it in waves or big chop in 12. I need speed to make it work well in light winds.

Kurt wrote: How's the boost and hang time on the 11 EH compared to the waroo pro 13m? Until I got the OV 11, the WP 13 was the best boosting kite that I have owned. I feel that the OV 11 boosts the same or a bit higher than WP 13. The hangtime is good on both kites, but the WP may hang a bit better. As a sidenote, it is not fair to compare the OV 11 to other 11 meter kites. It has a lot more power, but comparing it to a 13 is fair. I start riding the OV 11 in 12, jumping in 14, jumping high in 17, and going huge 18+. I am riding a 131 x 40 board, weight 190 lbs and have just basic skills. I think better riders can wring more performance out of it than I can. Ed

I don´t think is fair to compare the OV against the WP , mid aspect kite against a high aspect ? for that matter better the Ripper if we wanna compare apples to apples .
Said this , my 9 m OV jumps well above 15 knots ( 73 kgs on a 134 x 42 board ) but I think my 11/13 meter Edges had a better hang time .... and the WP used to have an even more radical lift comparing to the Edges ....
Again .... been able to ride comfortable starting 11-12 knots with my 9 m is priceless ..... I guess , I will never buy an 11 or even worst an 13 m in my life ...
Saludos
Franz
