Switchkites - Element?

Postby Telekiter » Tue Jan 17, 2012 11:34 am

So, there is the new Element from Switchkites. Has anyone tested one yet and is willing to make a statement on it?

Comparison to other 2012 kites is obviously the best way to give it a understandable review.

I´m possibly interested in a complement to my Blade Fat Lady (11 or 13 Element?) to haul my 90 kg ass around in 7-13 m/s (14-26 knots) on my Mako 40x150 board. (Yeah I know, a Blade Trigger 12 would fit the bill perfectly)

/Urban.

I've had a play on an early prototype and thought it was a nice fast-turning kite with really light bar pressure. I did have trouble working out where the kite was when unhooked though. It does seem to be a very versatile kite in waves and in the flats, the Switch boys seem quite excited with its performance and user friendliness.
I am planning on buying a 13m to complement my smaller Combats. My theory is that a light 3 strut kite will fly better than a 5 strut kite with carbon wing battens in fickle winds. My partner also doesn't like how the Combat (being an unbridled C kite) doesn't steer that well when depowered. I could post a review once I've had a good go, that is so long as Toby doesn't delete it

Great guys, looking forward to hearing you thoughts on it, and please make some comparing notes to other kites you recently tested. Especially the power and bar preassure since I have heard that many other kites are oversized in the small ones and undersized in the large ones.

I was looking for reviews and information on the kite too. I went to their web site and the kites are not available yet so the reviews will likely be from Team Riders. They should be able to tell you how the Element compares to other Switch kites, but beyond that I don't know how valid the reviews will be.
