Hmm interesting, the Alpha is a single strut kite that looks like a Reo
https://www.thekiteboarder.com/2018/10/ ... ide-ozone/

And they have a single skin snow kite to compete with the Peak3
https://ozonekites.com/products/land-sn ... xplore-v1/

now they have my attention... :D

Alpha info has been added to their site now. And it lists the kite weights.
https://ozonekites.com/products/water-kites/alpha-v1/

Looks like the Alpha 12m is 2.5kg which is lighter than the Ultra 12m at 2.8kg. The 10m Alpha lists 2.2kg which is close to the Cloud D1 10.4m at 2.15kg but smaller.

If only there was a way to reference it's turning speed. Is it faster than a Best Cabo/ Eleveight WS 11m? :D

And the target market is obviously freeride foil - pocketboard riders. I notice how people are mesmerized by freeriding pocktboards on tiny sizes. Next thing guys do - go and order their first foil :)
I hope that kite hits the spot.

Ozone had a very pretty single skin XXLite paraglider earlier and I'm glad they picked the Skywalk glove on the kite section too. Hopefully Flysurfer will fix the eartips of the Peak which look a bit weird (not clean as XXLite wingtips) both powered and underpowered

The main thing that bothers me the way my 12m Peak3 tips look is the wear. The coating has degraded where the kite tips flap. Keep forgetting to stick some tape there.

Wonder why Ozone didn't list the Explorer weight? My guess, the only reason they put the weight on the Alpha is because it's lighter than the Ultra. Ozone was never one to list detail specs other than their foil bridle lengths. Maybe OZ-CAD can't calculate the specs! Would love to know how it compares speed wise to the Peak3. The Peak3 12m is slower than molasses but damn it's a great sesh saver.

I’d say riders always paid attention to wing weight in relation to lowend ability to keep the kite in the air. No fun to have to loop the kite to keep it flying.
Some companies know ther gear is heavy. Those who know opposite should advertise that.

The further companies get away from “wave-crash strong fast turning wave kites” to “feather light fast turning foiling kites” the more weight will be a factor. But then again, you don’t want the wing to almost fold in half and resemble C kites shape like Clouds do upon solid pull applied on the bar. Relaunchability is also huge factor so weight vs. structure will be a fine balance.

Has somebody tested it's jumping hability?

If it jumps just ok I'm considering to replace my 13m edge for a 12 alpha, because nowadays in light wind I almost never ride twintip, but I love foilboosting!

Ozone Explore weights:
4m: 0.82kg
6m: 1.03kg
9m: 1.40kg
12m: 1.71kg
Interestingly, near identical to the Peak3 and Shaman2.

As for the wear of coating, I experienced the same for the Peak2. Not just at the wingtips, but also all along the trailing edge where the brake bridle connects. This however did not seem to affect flying quality. Perhaps I just did not notice because it happened gradually. The Peak4 will be similar to the Gin Shaman, with cells at the wingtips to reduce flapping.
