Wipika Hydro 13.0 (18.8)

Postby Toby » Wed Feb 19, 2003 12:00 pm

On the beach
Brand: Wipika
Model: Hydro
Real Surface: 17.8
Projected Surface: 13.0
Aspect Ratio: 5.2
Equipment: Detachable bag, pump, repair kit, bar (not tested).
Wind Range: From 10 to 16 knots.

Design/Finish: Well finished with reinforcements. There is a double valve on the leading edge, which is very useful for a big surface kite. It is possible to tune the kite by using the rear attachment positions (two positions). The design is classic.

Specifications: The Hydro is a new concept. Designed as a 4-line kite with a moderate aspect ratio, the Hydro offers well-controlled power, perfect stability and effortless re-launching. The perfect compromise between performance and accessibility! Steering is very precise and the power is perfectly controllable.

On the water
.Safety Features: The bar was not tested.

Re-launch: The aspect ratio allows for fairly easy re-launching. The Hydro 13 (17.8) is a big kite and requires a little effort to turn in light wind but minimal compared to normal ratios.

Power: The Hydro maintains steady power from about 9/10 knots. The power output is regular and sound, it pulls without jerks. In light wind a bit of effort is required, it must be moved to generate its power.

Stability: The hydro is very stable even in irregular wind. It stays at the zenith or at the edge of the window very easily, even when landing after an uncontrolled jump. As mentioned by someone: “a real truck, extremely stable and yet not slow, quite fast in fact!â€
