X-Shooter 155

Testreview X-Shooter 155 by Kite-Boarding.de (issue 5-2002)
Black, sleek, and with shiny polished carbon deck the X-Shooter 155 presents itself. This size and shape has been created as a big brother of the 144 for beginners, advanced and heavy riders (90+ kgs).

The 155 shows excellent riding characteristics. Despite wide tips and the length of the board the edge holds in every situation. A board, which can be easily controlled in flat water as well as in choppy waters, also without having much knowledge of riding. The X-Shooter rides very soft and comfortable, which comes from its round Skoop-Rocker. Fins and outline have been tuned very well. Even at high speeds, which are possible with this board, surprisingly it stays controllable all the time.

For lighter riders the X-Shooter 155 is a pleasure at the low end and medium windrange. Beginners will love the easy riding performance and will improve their skills quickly.

With the X-Shooter 155 heavier riders have a board to practise tricks with, where they need a bigger board with good gliding performance. The board lands very soft and stable after jumps. The fins in combination with the sharp edge keep the board good on track. Going upwind is even for a beginner absolutely no problem. Advanced riders will come into the pleasure of the good carving performance.

The fins can be moved to two different positions for whatever characteristics you prefer. If they are put more to the tail, the board has more grip for the edging before a jump and a better performance for running straight ahead. And if you put the fins more to the center of the board it becomes looser.

The quality is excellent for a production board. The footpads are due to its thickness and extra kicker at the heels very comfortable and the wide footstraps offer a secure grip.

A board for beginners, who will have a lot of fun for a long time with the 155 and an excellent board for everyone, who like to have a bigger second board.

A board which all in all filled us with enthusiasm.

I can only speak about the X-Shooter 155, which is a brilliant board! Super-light and slashy in feel, strong and with 1st class accessories, it gets going very early, cruises upwind and feels a class smaller on the feet than its size would suggest. If the 155 is anything to go by, then the new 133 should be killer!
