Need replacement for my Rhino2 20

Postby Hardcave1 » Wed Dec 29, 2004 10:44 am

Me beloved R2 20 blew it's guts today which was to be expected being more than 2 year old and my most used kite. Now the search for it's replacement if their are any out their. I need to hear from heavy 100kg + kiters what alternatives are similar in the low end grunt and performance of this kite. Are their still any new R2 20 still around.
The most important thing I need from the new kite is low end grunt.
I don't give a shit about top end, relaunching, having it do kite loops or bar pressure.
The priorities would be
1 Low end power
2 Jumping / Hhhhhhang performance
3 Turning speed

My hope is the 2005 Liquid fore 20 will be the one but after trying out the 17 today which is a great kite I feel that the bottom end may not be their.

See if you get the chance to try the Caution 20m. Probably the best 20 around, with all what you're looking for.

They say the R5 20 was designed with the R2 20 in mind... I don't know if this is accurate, but if you get a chance to try one let us know if this is accurate or not...

requests with toby, it has just replaced its r02 20 by a r05 20, it will be able to deliver his opinion to you but I have the impression that resold already... it is nkb which says that the r05 20 was conceived in same optics as the r02 20? this rumour comes? :D

The R5 20 was tested against the R2 20 thoughout the development cycle. I've been told the R2 20 does NOTHING better than the R5 20.

I can provide a first hand comparision between the R5 18 and R2 20. I tested those kites back to back. I'm not planning to ride a 20 this year. I'll ride the 18.

The R5s feel like less pull on the beach due to different angles of attack built into their design. The R2 20 pulls harder on the beach. BUT, on the water, they pull the same. The R5 18 jumps higher than the R2 20. The low end is close enough to satisfy my needs. I was riding in 10 knots powered enough to race upwind with ease on the Jamie Pro 126. The 18 turns like a 16m from 2004.
