Apart from it being fun, its good exercise (kiting that is). I would rather kite for half an hour than go to the gym or run for an hour.

in season[mar-nov] the optimal is 3 times a week.
gives the body some time to recuperate.
once the cold weather and snow sets in i try to get a one week and a 2 week break somewhere warm and windy.
this translates to 108 local sesh's and 15 overseas sesh's.
this year the season in the northeast has been dreadful-may,june i got one or 2 sesh's a week and july and august have been miserable. i went to cabarete in july to get some wind and have got one session in so far this month.

time to move or pray for a change in global weather patterns.

i am also going to post a thread on the average length of sessions? i average 2 to 3 1/2 hours in warmer weather. once it gets cooler i find i lose my strength and energy much more quickly.

If I go less than once a week I'm Jone'sin for a fix, Like the water can pop real high but the water season seems we get ridable wind once a week, Winter seems better at least twice a week, but its on snow/ice higher winds, smaller kites, hard surface, kite loops with board down on ground :( .
