Do you prefer kiting in flat water or in the ocean/surf?

I'm starting to get sick of wave riding. It's fun, but a lot harder to stay upwind and if I wipe out or the wind dies, my kites often gets dragged and tumbled all the way into shore. Sometimes, if I can't get my lines wrapped quick enough, I come in to shore all tangled up in lines..what a mess..and a threat to other people if the place I get washed into happens to be crowed. Flat water is great for working on tricks and there are a lot of lagoons here where there are miles of knee-to-waist deep water. No waves, no sharks, no current, ideal.

I have flat water on my doorstep.
So I would prefer a six to eight foot peeling left hander (right hander will do as well)

I'm still learning - what is this 'riding' you speak of? :)

i like every condition, its good for progression, underpowered overpowered, flat water, heavy chop, shoredump and monster closeout and peeling waves we get it all here and sometimes other conditions are easier/more enjoyable than others but its all about riding at the end of the day....a session in boardies wouldnt go amiss its quite cold now! :jump:
