LOS ROQUES (Venezuela)

Postby madcowboy » Thu Jul 17, 2003 9:25 pm

Los Roques…..the LOST PARADISE, I’ve been there from 19th to 28th of April and it was…..amazing!
Los Roques is a 100 islands arcipelago with shining white sandy beaches and crystal torquise water, just one, Gran Roques has inhabitants, the rest are totally desert.
The wind is mostly off-shore so I suggest to have always a boat rescue with you, the wind is 18-22 knots every day and night, it never stops, the windy seaso starts in December until June.
Amazing are the sud-ovest islands, Carenero, Cayo de Agua, Dos Mosquises; and Espenky but also the est ones are super, the wind is a little bit more costant and you kitesurf in pure torquise lagoon, one of the best is Bajo Fabian just 100m long and 25m large, unbelievable!
Last but not least there are also Isla Vapor, Sebastopol, La Pelona di Esperky.
Concerning lodging I suggest the pousada EL CANTO DELLA BALLENA where you can have bed&breakfast&lunch for $ 40,00, the only one kiter pousada.
And what to say about 2,8 kg lobster for $ 20,00??????????????????SUPAGOURMAISE
The islands where you can find the best lobsters are Cayo Pirata and Madrisqui.
BE AWARE from SOL Y LUNA pousada they staff still money to the tourist!
What else to say?!?!
Nothing just go and enjoy the paradise!
