flat water spots near sydney

Just wondering if anybody knows of any good flat water spots north or south of sydney up to about 4 hours. especially if they have a nice place to stay / camp.
I've done plenty of trips but always fly on the waves and know that my begginer friends would have a better trip if we stay at some flat water.
