Avoid the stopover in Casablanca in your trip to Dakhla

Postby romian » Wed Feb 14, 2024 6:05 pm

Just to let you guys know...

Binter (Canary Islands local airlines) flies from Las Palmas to Dakhla twice a week (Tuesday and Saturday). Las Palmas has an international airport connected with lots of european cities.

So, if you want to avoid a stopover in Casablanca (and a headache with your boardbags not arriving in Dakhla), you can fly to the Canary Islands and then to Dakhla.

There´s another direct flight with Transavia from Paris Orly: Monday and Thursday.

I have been to Dakhla once and I thought it would be the last time I go there because of the Royal Air Maroc and pain to get there overall (from here, you have to buy two different tickets). Good if the flights are better now

By experience, Transavia has a very decent service and do not overcharge board bags

Already booked my flights so committed to the Casablanca stop over, any tips to reduce the risk. My current understanding is I have to collect bags myself after the first flight and recheck in for the second flight. Travelling from London.

Are both flights with Royal Air Marocco?

I traveled from Gatwick last July and my bags were checked straight through.
Although one arrived a day later

Have been 3 times From London never had to stop over but you got to run from one side of the airport to the other to make the connection to Dakhla. Don’t wait on the line at Casablanca security check, ignore the grumbling Frenchies the Marocs don’t care just push past. Bags have always made the plane before us, they hold he plane to the last poss minute we even got taken to it by pickup from gate!
