hello Ken,
Could be good, but it's a real lottery at this period of the year. I had some good days but some friend had no luck with some cold weather and bad wind. Don't know if this help but i'd rather try the caraibe at this period of the year.

I haven't kited in Sharm itself but in Dahab which is 1h30 away from the airport. Nice place but without real organisation for kitesurf and better for windsurf. If you want l very easy access from airport, i would suggest Hurgadha (Magawish hotel), 10min away from airport, cheap and all you you need for kiting ! close to that Safaga is good (30min by car) or El gouna (also 30 min dir north). Wind in may is more regular than i winter, so go for it !!! it's one of the best period as it is still not too warm....
