I am off to Asia for 2 weeks in April. At the moment I have a choice between thailand or Vietnam
Any opinions on the best palce to go at that time. I see Mei nui in Vietnam looks like the premier place to go but is itt too crowded at that time of year?
Adive much appreciated.

Asian NE trades die off end of March and April is normally still. Some say Thailand has a little puff at the end of the season, but i'm only aware of the wind being very light most of the time. For some impartial advice, hit windguru.cz and go into the archive and check for your self.
If there is wind in Vietnam then know there is a shore break to get through, n ot for the faint hearted or beginner on windy days.

The trades have been late this season so you'll have the best chance of getting wind in Asia here in Mui Ne, come see us at

Yes the ne monsoon is late this year. for a less travelled kite destination try balok beach malaysia. you will be pleasantly surprised, less kiters and flatwater beach with sandy bottom.

Locals head to Hua Hin Thailand in April most other spots are dead. Most days late Mrch thru April Hua Hun gets 12-15 and occasionally up to 20kt. Th beach is like 100m wide and there is plenty of space. Its not epic but its faily reliable in April. hua is smalll enough to be cool but big enough to have some decent nightlife.
