I have to go to a conference in Palm Springs soon. Travelling from the UK but still planning to bring all my gear. Golf is on offer, but I would rather stick a chopstick in my eye.

Where is the nearest kiting anyone would recommend? Shane and Brian at Calikites have helpfully suggested Long beach. Any other suggestions? I found a website for "The Ponds", evidently a resevoir in the Palm Springs area but (i) it looks like it may not be open and (ii) even if it is, the it looks like windsurfing only and the contacts via the website do not respond. Does anyone know what the score is?
