Sotavento(Fuerteventura) or ElGouna(Egypt)

Postby KingAstra » Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:01 pm

Hi Guys

Im from Germany and currently planning to go kitesurfing with my Girlfriend in my summerholidays(August).
It all comes down to tow places, either Sotavento in Fuerteventura(Canarian Islands) or El Gouna (Egypt).I've been to Corralejo in Fuerteventura 2 years ago but never stayed in Egypt. I'm an advanced rider but my girlfriend is a total beginner she will just start this spring. We both only have a 12m² . I allready have kind of an opinion on both spots but I'm really looking forward to yours

Hope you guys can help me to make my choice

You might even recommend an accommodation

DON'T go to Sotavento, you gonna hate that place!!! I do!!!

Egypt is much better! El Gouna is not the best choice in Egypt. But if your girl can't ride, maybe the best for her.

Soma Bay is a very cool area...e.g. there is the Interconti!

El Gouna: 3 kite centers, always busy...many beginners.

Soma Bay has awesome flat water conditions at several parts. Not as many kiters as El Gouna.

check http://www.kitebeaches.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and see the satellite pictures to compare. And see the videos linked below the beach info to get an idea.

I checked up a couple of spots in that area on kitebeaches and on http://www.kitetravel.de/Videos.html?PH ... 0p0(Pretty" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; good videos about kitetraveling in egypt but only in german)
I havent decided on an explicit area yet but I am pretty sure I'll book something in the next few weeks.
Thanks to you Toby
