I'm looking at going to Utila island, off Honduras Feb-Mar with buddies but am concerned about not having enough wind. Anyone have any thoughts? Am I better off to bail on the buddies and head to Puerto Rico/Cayman/DR as solo female on moderate budget? (I'm thinkin' that Playa Copal is too windy... 8 is my smallest kite...)
Thanks a million for the help!!

Puerto Rico is definitly a great place to kite, especially during those months. You will not need smaller than 8m, and you will get wind probably everyday! There is also good waves at this time of the year. There is also quiet a few girls kiting here. San Juan is a big city, but you can kite right in the middle of it. If you want more of a "beachy" lifestyle, check Cabarete: bars, restaurants, schools on the beach... just more of a partying style. Cabarete on the other hand gets really really crowded, and the waves are not as good.
Check http://www.srh.noaa.gov/sju/ for the weather forecast in San Juan, (windguru is always under). If you need a place to stay, check out www.vacationrentalsanjuan.com.
Good luck picking your destination,
Cheers
