kitesurf kauai

Postby windgirl » Wed Apr 21, 2010 11:34 pm

We are looking at Kauai end of August and two weeks into September. We are happy with 15 to 25 knots and also would like some waves. We spend a month in Maui in 2000 and it was awesome. What are the trades and waves in Kauai like that time of year, and we assume North Shore would be the place to stay. Can anyone give us some info. We are from NZ. Mahalo

North shore is nice to stay, but no wind in the summer. Wind is on the SE coast and S coast for wind and summer swells. You will be relying mainly on the trade winds that time of year and those are the hottest two months. Around Kapaa on the east shore is wind and Poipu on the south shore. Call or email one of the local shops there for more clarity.

By the way, you should check out GK Kites and Lightwave boards. I just got a quiver and boards and the kites are rugged and boards are state of the art. www.globekites.com.

I dont what that guy is talking about but the north shore (Haena) is windy almost every day in the summer and there are no local shops on the island.

Septembers kinda weird month. The north shore winds are usually starting to die and the trades really start to really get good in winter. Mahauelepu in poipu should be pretty windy though. Heres my friends site hes names adam. give him a call for more info.
