kite surf beginner - individual or group lessons? where?

hello kite fellows,

i plan on making my dream come true and learn kitesurfing (around midjuly-August!)

i was thinking about learning it in Europe or Middle East. Europe (hailing from Europe) would be cheaper to travel though I think.

So I heard that Tarifa was pretty good but on the other side, I heard its overcrowded.

Then I heard about Wadi Lahami but it's probably pretty quiet (no nightlife).

I'm female and I will be on own and it should be a kite holiday so I wanted to be among (some) other people.

Now I also don't know if I should do lessons individually or in groups. I don't know which way I learn better (you learn from the other beginners and they learn from you - kind of system) but if I learn individually, how am I going to meet other people?

Or maybe you know some other good kite spots, I don't want it overcrowded and I want good teaching and a nice atmosphere/location where I can chill and hang out.

Any recommendations, tips?

edit: I've found now Cyprus, Greece and Turkey.. heard that it's not that windy at all in Cyprus! So I won't go there probably.

About Greece, it seemed totally overcrowded: Paros and Naxos.

Haven't heard a lot about Turkey btw.

Hello,

Egypt is a very good location to learn kitesurfing.
For my opinion you learn more in individual lessons.
If you are on a Kite Beach you will be automatically in conact with other peoples. Sure depends on you :-)
Normally you have 2 people in one course this is the best what you can get. If you have to share
your instructor with too much students you will not learn that fast.

Our spot is located between Hurghada and el Gouna and its a good alternative to all the crowded
spots around. We have a big shallow water area for teaching beginners and good wind conditions.
A good Nightlife you can get in Hurghada and el Gouna.

If you like to get some more informations just contact me

sunny greetings

Egypt for sure is good.

If you can afford it, take an instructor just for you, specially for the first hours, until you start with a board. Then group lessons will do, since you will beon your own anyway.

You will automatically meet nice people at any kite area, don't worry!

Don't worry being on your own, if you come to Tarifa for kitesurfing: We are always a little group of students, kitesurf beginners and instructors, spending days on the beach and nights in Tarifa's old town.

Concerning kite lessons: Actually I would recommend a group lesson, BUT: no more than 4 students per group, otherwise you won't progress!
And make sure that you choose a certified school, have a look at www.ikointl.com

If you wanna come to Tarifa, let me know!

Best sunny regards,
Maike

Check out Kitty Hawk Kites in Waves Village, North Carolina. Ask for Chris or Will. It's one huge kiddie pool in Pamlico Sound and makes for an amazing area to learn. When it is windy, it tends to be pretty consistent and facilitates your learning curve.
