Best kitespot in Southeast Asia: October, November

Hy, guys!

Soon I will move to Southeast Asia to kitesurf and have fun. I have to make difficult choice about my first spot and need a piece of advice. I'm choosing between:

— Thailand, Phuket
— Vietnam, Phan Thiet, Mui Ne
— Philippines, Boracay
— Indonesian spots

According to http://www.kitoons.biz/asia.kitesurf.spots.htm there is not a lot of wind on all spots in October-December. But I need to make a some choice. I need advice from somebody familiar with these spots in this time of year.

The Philippines are probably your best bet for that time of year. Southeast Asia doesn't really have a lot of wind in general, mostly big kite weather as far as I can tell. Best wind in the region's probably Taiwan. The wind stats on that place are insane.

My question is about October-November period.

The North East Monsoon kicks in around October in SE Asia, if you go to Philippines or Vietnam bring small kites as well. Thailand and Indo are more likely to require 17m²'s. On the statistics (Boracay, Philippines) you see the South West Monsooon (Habagat) still prevailing beginning of October, being replaced by the North East (Amihan). Of cause the timeframe varies from year to year.

The forecast (the archive data consists of forecast data) seems to be most accurate for Phan Thiet, which is close to Mui Ne Bay. I must admit never having been to Viet Nam, but my collegue here owns a bar over there (Pogo Bar, very recommended ) and reckons this is about right.

Hello!
October on Boracay is not good because of unstable wind. The wind could blow from SW or NE but with SW you could kite on the White beach. It's not strong 12-18 knots. November is much better. The WE wind comes and the season is open. The average sizes are 9-12m. The wind is constant 15-20 knots. And may be 80% days with the wind over 12 knots. There are no too much people in November also. This is great advantage comparing to New Year.
Also don't trust too much to Windguru. Very often 13-14knots forecast means no wind on Boracay.
Windfinder is more accurate for this place to my opinion.

As for Indonesian spots, you are likely to get wind in Sumbawa in October and possibly in November (and probably on many island spots east of Sumbawa, if you are in a mood to go exploring).
