Near-by is another spot, in my opinion better: Hamata / Camel Beach -
http://www.kite-village.com/
Very flat water, even at 35 knots.
Shallow water, but deep enough not to hurt you in case your impact is a bit on the heavy side.
No obstacles in the water, no reef.
And: Lots of lots of lots of space.
I have been to
http://www.kite-village.com/ five weeks now this year - and *every* single day of these five weeks I could go kiting (at about 90kg!)
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kite+hamata has very cool footage about
http://www.kite-village.com/ - this spot is located about 5 minutes north of the Lahmi Bay hotel / the Eco Lodge Wadi Lahmi, the Wad Lahmi spot.

With a 17m and a raceboard you can kite every day...
The wind in hamata was a lot less stronger this year then in previous years...
Februari almost no wind, may, 50 procent wind, september 50 procent wind...
And it becomes more and more crowded, so no need to pimp it.
