Hello All,

I am a beginner at kiteboarding, having taken an IKO course and practiced for a season (~8 weekends total). I have now started to go upwind.

I am looking to go to Algarve for a week of kitesurfing and generally prefer fairly shallow water, flat to slightly choppy, and with fairly strong winds (as I only have a 9m kite and weigh 70kg/155lbs/11st). And warm weather.

Any recommendations on where is the best spot to go to?

I have heard that Lagos is a fun place to stay at, so found a few beaches close by that seems suitable: Praia Grande de pera, Meia Praia, and Alvor. Any comments about these?

Alternatively, any other suggestions on suitable and warm places to go in September in Southern Europe and/or Africa would be very much appreciated.

I was the instructor this summer at the Alvor KIte Center and massively recommend the lagoon (Ria de Alvor) for learning. Its the perfect place to improve your riding and always has very flat (mid-low tide) or slightly choppy (high tide) water.
