What's the wind like in November?

The percentage of time during the day with 11-25 knots and good wind direction (cross / cross-onshore) during November 2008 and November 2009 was 99% !!
(Trade wind).

The exception was last year when we had La Nina and warned all of our potential customers that the wind could be disappointing. November 2010 was indeed somewhat disappointing and turned out to be 85%.

We've just nailed a deal with a travel agent (Flycaboverde in Holland) so flight prices are affordable:
Direct flight from Amsterdam - Sao Vicente for 560 euros
No extra cost for equipment with total weight up to 30kg

The choices of accomodation is also expanding.
Prices are now from 9 euros per night including breakfast.

So getting to Sao Vicente is getting easy (6 hours flight, 30min until you have your luggage, 15min to get to accomodation) and affordable.

Hi Ola, Hi Marc !
Thanks for an unforgettable time. I've fallen in love with the island and had a great time on the water at Salamansa. I'll be back!
Here's some pictures from the day with the big group of Dutch kiters.

Any idea what airlines fly out of western North America (Vancouver, Seattle, Los Angeles, etc..)?? I tried flights from all three but it came up with 'no flights available'?

What destination should I try? Sao Vincente?

Thanks!

I've got a week in Feb so would be nice to spend it in Salamansa!!!

Hi Jason,
It's getting late here so I'll get you the details tomorrow.

For a starter
Take KLM/Delta on Wednesdays from LA, Portland or Seattle to Amsterdam and then TACV from Amsterdam to Sao Vicente.
I'm pretty sure there is now (from 18 Dec onwards) a new second option as well - which is with Air France/Delta to Paris and then TACV from Paris to Sao Vicente.

TACV is a bit of an unusual airline - impossible to find on the web. They have and office in Boston (Tel: 617-472-2431/617-472-2227 - Fax:617-472-2521
Email: dboston@tacv.aero )

Hi Jason
We had a lot of questions from kitesurfers about flights to Sao Vicente. Your experience back in 2011 turned out to be the rule: when you search in the normal sites (travelocity, orbitz etc) the flights to Sao Vicente are either absent or very expensive with outrageous long flight schedules.

We've been taking notice and have created a very thorough system to find flights and are close to create our own flight search page, specifically for Sao Vicente to help. The database is ready. We found to our surprise that you can find convenient flights (good connections both ways) from 157 cities around the world! :D

Here is the latest on West-Coast USA (options may change depending on time of the year)

Portland : Take Delta flight 178 on Wednesday at 1:45pm arriving in Amsterdam at 08:35 next morning, then take TACV from Amsterdam leaving at 10:15, arriving in Sao Vicente at 14:05.

Seattle: Take Delta flight 232 on Wednesday at 1:40pm arriving in Amsterdam at 08:30 next morning, then take TACV from Amsterdam leaving at 10:15, arriving in Sao Vicente at 14:05.

Before October 27 and after March 30, there are more options including flights from Los Angeles and from San Francisco

By the way:
- The return routing is very similar. No long transits
- If you need to book flights for the TACV legs: contact TACV or for the whole routing: contact us.
