Kite kuda operates between 9-12 and 2-5 during which it can get crowded in parts. There is still plenty of space, it's just the prime area on the lagoon gets busy. The rest of the day though the lagoon is almost empty.

The wind is all day. Therefore, if you want to beat the crowds start before 9 or kite while kite kuda is on lunch or in evening, or even nighttime. 24 hour wind ensures that you get your fill of kiting. I still have blisters on my hand from my last trip a month ago.

I've had two collisions there myself, and seen about 20 others. These are usually beginners, or people not observing the right of way (Russians).

We are planning to go kitesurftrip this winter December - Mars.
How is wind in this period.

Is there any hotels/Villa close to the flatwaterspots?
Were my family can stay close to me while i am kitesurfing.

I've not been at that time of year. I've heard the wind can be ok from about late November until mid march. Mike, the guy wh runs one of the schools there, told me its about 50/50 and the wind is not quite as strong.

You can generally trust windguru there, so if you see good stuff happening on wind guru then ink about a trip.

* If the wind is strong (between December–March / May–September) pump your kite and take off (upwind) or use the boat service (Flat rate per day) to get Dropped to the main kiting spot. And if the wind is still strong you can come back to the village.
* Each Cabana has its own Shower
* Best rice and curry in Kalpitiya area
* And the best beds (no matress on the floor), hand crafted
* B&B only 17€ Per person.
* And the best is more than 7000 qm space and only 5 Cabanas

A litle review: I had an great week at Srilankakite in Kalpitiya a couple of weeks ago. I was there 8 days and except for one day there was good wind every day - 12m in mornings and 9m in afternoons usually.

In this winter season the wind is coming from the North so Srilankakite is in the perfect spot on the lagoon. I think most of the other kite places needed to drive people out or take a boat to the otherside of the lagoon. At srilankakite I could launch and land directly in front of my room )

Great place to stay - really friendly and good food!
