Hey there,

I'm going to the BVI's in February and need some informations about wind strength and spots.

What's the wind speed about in February?

Are there any spots with waist deep water where you can stand, so it's safe for young teenager?

Are there any spots where you can do downwinder sessions?

Are there any wave spots on the islands?

Would be great to get some informations from you.

Cheers.

Great time for a BVI holiday enno!

Wind strength is a hard thing to forecast. Last year the Christmas winds started blowing in the Caribbean late November and didn't stop until March. Some great swell because of it. Bring whatever you'd normally ride for 14-21 knots. Occasionally we will get a week of 21-25 though feb is on the late side for that.

Your best spot in the BVI is Virgin Gorda. Good enough for beginners and lessons there from the guys at Bitter end as well. There are other spots, more missions to get to and not safe for beginners. If you are going by charter boat just grab dock space at Bitter End Yacht Club or one of their moorings. Ask for the kite beach and respect the schools rules there. Don't be surprised to see celebs and billionaire tech titans on the water with you. Watch local kite instructor Sam blow away the happy hour crowd at Saba rock during his sunset sessions.

Have fun - if kiting from any of the beaches on Tortola itself seek out a local for advice first

Hey enno,
Like the others said the best places to go kiting in BVI is Bitter End in Virgin Gorda and Anegada.

If you're staying in Tortola let me know as I live here and can give youu some info on local spots
