Windy days in Cabarete

What a winter season for all the kiters here in Cabarete, DR so far. According to what people say we are having a “la nina year” (a female year), which means a lot of wind und probably late good swells in March and April. Nearly every day consistent wind from 15 – 25 knots over the last weeks. Really perfect conditions in sunny warm weather and water, also great for the students and instructors at the kiteschools. Every day 3-6ft waves on the reefs for the kiters on their surfboards. It doesn’t seem that busy anymore with kiters these days. Mostly you have only a handful kiters out on the reef and on the beach and in the water there is plenty of space for everyone. All the freestylers can practice tricks at la boca, the rivermouth just a bit out of town and the wave lovers find the best and empty waves downwind from kitebeach at playa encuentro.
Last weekend the Master of the Ocean was held for the 10th time at playa encuentro . A unique event where great watermen compete against each other in Windsurfing , Kitesurfing, Surfing and for the first time this year also in Stand up paddle surfing. If you want to see some pictures from the event and from Cabarete have a look at our facebook profile: https://www.facebook.com/HookedCabarete

Sunny and windy regards from Cabarete

Winds have been low and are looking at staying low for a while. I only have a 7m kite with me
I have looked through all the kite schools for second hand kite and all i can find is over priced, seriously damaged kites which are on their last legs.

Im sure theres some people here who are leaving soon or know somebody who may want to get rid of their kites?
i dont want a bar just the kite.

im staying at kite beach inn. any info please email me:
