Wife is getting cabin fever and wants out of the country... I'd like to go to Maui but I don't think the "cost of living" there for 3 weeks would fit out budget
So the options I've come up with so far are:
Koh Samui - not sure about the wind
Sanur (Bali) - wind should be ok but I like Thailand better
Boracay - White Beach sounds like it might be ok in August...
Thoughts? Any more options?

bali's prolly your best bet of the 3 if its a must for wind
if your up for adventure there's a place at the top of sumatra called banda aceh... u may have just recently heard about it in the media as they just had an earthquake... some euro is about to open a kite centre there in may and if what he says is true on his website then it may be "on" looks like a nice spot too
http://www.aceh-kitecamp.com/en/
1 other place which no one seems to goto is vung tau in Vn.. its close to saigon and gets the south west monsoon winds.. the wind is very consistent.. no gusts.. its in a harbour so the water is small chop
for the cost of food(western and local) and accommodation its relatively inexpensive
it has pluses and minus's but overall its worth a trip
but your have to check on windguru(phan thiet) to see the forcast for the week

Word on the ground is that the last 2 August's in Koh Samui have been ok... and I like Thailand more than Bali. So does the wife...
so that's important. Same with Vietnam - been there, was very average.
Sigh... I would be happy having August hols at home; kiting when possible, riding the bike when not, tinkering with my hobbies in the interim.

I hear Vietnam has some epic spots but not sure if the wind is good in August.
North East of Brazil has great wind conditions in August but thats maybe a bit too far??
Wherever you go, happy kiting
